MVS1: City Orienteering 2018-2019

Brief information

“City Orienteering 2018-2019” was held on 4th May, 2019 (Saturday) to improve Teens’ understanding, reduce stigmatization and misconception on mental illnesses, and enhance the social inclusion through interaction with person-in-recovery.

115 teens and 65 people-in-recovery participated in this activity, they were divided into 27 groups, and each group consisted of person-in-recovery, Teens and Jardine Ambassadors. Participants discussed on the tasks and planned the routes, then travelled to different locations in Hong Kong University, Central, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay and Tai Koo. They visited local scenes and historical sites, took group photos, enjoyed local cuisine and completed group tasks. After the journey, they went back to the school and shared their achievements with the other groups.

This activity not only allowed teens to have better understanding on mental illnesses and person-in-recovery, but also provided an opportunity for service users to participate in social activities, thereby built up self-confidence through achieving tasks & social interactions, and the sense of being included in the community.
