Mental Health Comic Competition

Brief information

To raise public awareness on mental health, Mental Health Comic Competition is launched in 2013.

 

Topic

Topic 1 : What is Mental Health

  • Understanding mental disorders
  • Supporting people suffering from mental disorders
  • Destigmatization

Topic 2 : Self Image and Eating Disorders

  • Understanding standard body shape and the factors affecting it
  • Understanding eating disorders
  • Encouraging youth to build up a healthy self-image

Topic 3 : Addiction

  • The most common forms of addictions
  • Saying "no" to temptation
  • Building healthy lifestyles

Topic 4 : Emotion Management

  • Understanding the functions of emotions
  • Learning ways to manage negative emotions

 

 

 

Category

-  Open : open to all;

-   Secondary: open to all students receiving secondary education in Hong Kong

 

Judging Criteria

  • Creativity (30%)
  • Comic writing skills (30%)
  • Effective dissemination of mental health message (40%)

 

Specifications

  • No restriction on drawing tools, can use Watercolor, Poster Color, Wood color or computer sketch, but not allow to use clip art on computer software
  • Captions (in Chinese or English) on drawing is allowed
  • Requirement on size:

-  1000 pixels x 707 pixels (Computer sketch)

      -  29.5cm x 21cm (A4) (Hand drawing) (Remarks: scanning resolution not less than 300 pixels)

 

Prize

One winner will be selected in each category; prizes and certificates will be presented to winners and merit entrants.

Award Comic will be uploaded to Health in Mind website (http://www.healthingmind.org.hk) and displayed at the Rotunda, Exchange Square from 7th Aug to 16th Aug 2013.
