MVS2: Eco-tour: 2017-2018
“Eco-tour 2017-2018” was held on 27th January, 2018 (Saturday) to improve Teens’ understanding, reduce stigmatization and misconception on mental illnesses, and enhance the social inclusion through interaction with person-in-recovery.
80 teens and 66 people-in-recovery participated in this activity, they were divided into 25 groups, and each group consisted of person-in-recovery, Teens and Jardine Ambassadors. Participants worked together on a few things, like making chocolate banana crispy rolls with organic herb, and picking some natural materials in in courtyard such as leaves, flowers to create their own plant frottage.
One of major activities in the farm was round organic farm tour. Person-in-recovery well trained as professional tour guides led the group sightseeing at butterfly house, herbal garden, cactus garden. They also walked around Exhibition Gallery and Food Waste Composting Zone, to learn about the concept of organic farming and to compost from recycling kitchen waste.
This activity not only allowed teens to have better understanding on mental illnesses and person-in-recovery, but also provided an opportunity for service users to enjoy the natural environment and participate in social activities, thereby built up self-confidence through interactive artwork and cooking.
