Orientation Camp

Brief information

The Orientation Day Camp of Health in Mind – Youth Mental Health Programme (HIM Programme) 2013-2015 was successfully completed on 28th September 2013 (Sat) at Chinese YMCA of Hong Kong - Wu Kwai Sha Youth Village. 141 HIM advocates from 10 participating schools and 34 Jardine Ambassador participated.

At the beginning, Mrs. Nancy CHAN, General Manager, Human Resources Services of Jardine Matheson Group and Mr. Francis Woo, Senior Nursing Officer of Kwai Chung Hospital, gave welcoming remarks at the opening ceremony. Representatives from Education Bureau also participate to support the programme.

Through several of team building games, the orientation camp could let participants knowing the teammates, as well as training their team spirit and leadership skills.

After the warm-up games, all group members have enhanced mutual understanding and developed trust between each other, and greatly enjoyed the activity.  The last team building game was “Determination on the stage”. Each group has to first discuss and decide a clear objective for HIM Programme, and then each group member has to stand on the plank, hold up by other group members, and shout the objective loudly, to show their determination to achieve the objective.

The day camp came to an end after a series of games and group debriefing. All HIM advocates took the coach to leave after taking group photos.

Orientation day camp was only the start of HIM Programme, in the coming 2 years, students would participate in a series of interactive workshop and volunteer services, which help them to develop a more positive approach towards the healthy state of their psychological and physical beings, increase knowledge on mental health, reduce stigmatization on mental illnesses in our community and build up their spirit of helping and serving the others in need.
