Brief information

In order to equip the Teens with indepth knowledge of the 2 most common mental disorder, Health in Mind Programme organized the “Depression & Anxiety” workshop at S.K.H Holy Carpenter Secondary School on 21st April, 2018 (Saturday). We are glad to have Dr. Cheryl So, Senior Clinical Psychologist of Kwai Chung Hospital to be the guest speaker, to share her experience in working for patients with depression and anxiety.

Through games, video clips and group discussion, the Teens were taught to identify people with symptoms of depression. Dr. So introduced several common “Mind Traps” – negative thinking patterns that may lead to depression loops and proactive & constructive ways that can help Teens to prevent depression and various methods to help taking care of person with depression. As a demonstration, certain teens were selected to dance in front of the mass like Korean Pops they were then being asked the anxiety responses from body and mind. Through this experiential learning, Teens gained insights on how pressure works in daily lives, as well as the methods of assisting others to overcome them step by step.

According to the post-workshop questionnaire, 94.9% of students agreed that the workshop could help them know more about depression and anxiety, and 90.8% of students were satisfied with the workshop.
