Workshop 3: Schizophrenia

Brief information

In order to equip the Teens with indepth knowledge of various mental illness, Health in Mind Programme organized the “Schizophrenia” workshop at Yu Chun Keung Memorial College on 23rd April, 2016 (Saturday). We are glad to have Dr. Catherine Chong, Associate Consultant of Kwai Chung Hospital to be the guest speaker, to share her experience in working for patients with psychosis.

Dr. Chong introduced the cause and the symptom of psychosis, and also various kind treatments. In the role play session, teens tried different roles not only the patient with psychosis but also the illusions & hallucinations they experienced. Through the role play games, Teens understood the challenges faced by the patients in their daily lives, as well as the ways to assist them in seeking help or recovery.

In order to consolidate the learnings on mental health in the past year, an Q & A session was prepared for Teens by Dr. Cheryl So, Senior Clinical Psychologist of Kwai Chung Hospital. Furthermore, Teens recalled their memories in the different activities they participated through the video clip.

According to the post-workshop questionnaire, 93% of students agreed the workshop could help them to know more about schizophrenia, and 97% of students satisfied with the workshop.Workshop3-Schizophrenia_15-16
