Workshop 4: Human Library
Health in Mind Programme organized the “Human Library” workshop at Kwai Chung Hospital on 5th November, 2016 (Saturday) and at Yu Chun Keung Memorial College on 26th November, 2016 (Saturday). We are glad to have Peer Specialists from different organizations to have an in-depth sharing on their way of recovery to 121 teens.
The first part included presentation from social workers, group discussion and role-play exercise, the workshop provided an opportunity for teens to have a better understanding about Peer Specialists. Then the peer specialists shared their pathway from having mental illness, treatment, recovery, and then back to society. Through the sharing of their personal experience, Teens gained much insights on the cause of illness, importance of seeking help and support of family and friends. At the end of the workshop, each group of teens designs a thank you card to show their appreciation towards the peer specialists for their precious sharing.
According to the post-workshop questionnaire, 98.3% of students agreed the workshop could help them know more about mental disorders, and 99.2% of students satisfied with the workshop.
