City Orienteering

Brief information

To enhance knowledge and awareness of mental health among secondary school students, so as to help ex-mentally ill persons integrate into the community, and reduce stigmatization in the community, “City Orienteering 2012” was held on 4th February 2012 (Saturday).

111 secondary school students from Year 1 schools of Health in Mind – Youth Mental Health Promotion Programme, and 48 ex-mentally ill persons participated in this activity.

Each participating team has to complete 3 to 5 tasks within specified time, including taking group photo at Tuen Mun Ching Chung Taoist, searching answer at Ping Shan Heritage, buying “Wife cake” in Yuen Long etc. Eeach team has to plan its own route and travelling ways. To develop team spirit, every team member has to participate to complete the tasks.

“City Orienteering 2012” could not only enhance students’ understanding on mental illness, but also provide an opportunity for the ex-mentally ill persons to participate in social activities, which help them build up confidence and integrate into the community.
